Virgin Mobile is releasing yet another Kyocera phone. The Kyocera Adreno S2400 is being released by Virgin Mobile as the TNT. So, is the new TNT just another cheap flip phone or is it something to check out?
It’s not going to impress your friends unless your 12, and it lacks most of the features you would hope for. After you get past the fact that it’s a $20 phone and it’s lack of impressive features, the TNT does have one redeeming quality: it is very rugged and very blue. Blue is the only color it’s currently offered in, but only time will tell if they switch the colors up. Phone’s like the slice were also intially offered only in 1 hue. The blue does seems to accentuate the cheap look and feel.
Honestly, the phone isn’t all that bad looking for the price when compared to the Shadow Mouse or the Oystr, and it does have that tiny external display that other phones in it’s range are lacking.
Features:
- Affordably priced making it an ideal backup
- Lightweight at 3 oz’s (0.2 lbs)
- External display with caller id
- Supports Real Music ringtones and downloadable games
- Virgin XL support
- 200 minutes of talk time, 5 days of standby time
- Voice Dialing
- Speakerphone
The Bad
- External display is miniscule
- Voice quality is lacking
Virgin Mobile will be offering the phone on their website beginning August 20th, 2008. The TNT is currently available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, and other retailers.

So this was by far the WORST phone I have EVER owned, honestly.
How do I hate thee? Let us count the ways:
Voice Quality? Sound like they are talking into an aluminum can full of gravel and fire. The speakerphone makes it a little better when turned on and put on “1″, but this is stupid.
Appearance? Looks like one of those fake phones I had when I was 5
Feel? It’s entire exterior (minus the tiny front display) is covered in…. wait for it…..
RUBBER!
That’s right folks, rubber.
Try getting this out of a less than baggy pocket or slide it across a table, not happening, feels cheaper than it looks.
Features? Bluetooth? Not a chance Camera? Yeah right Full front screen? Nah
The UPS of this phone:
Your contact’s name WILL appear on the TINY front screen when they call you, and text alerts appear too in all of their one color , quarter inch high goodness. But, any , ANY amount of pressure applied to the front of the phone WILL cause the front screen to completely fail and break forever, so keep your fingers COMPLETELY off of it, if you ever want to check the time without opening the thing.
It’s LIGHT, which means when you get so pissed off because it sounds like your best friend is screaming into a concrete mixer, it will fly easily through the air at the wall.
It FLOATS, so , just in case water is your target instead of a wall, you can watch it float and shut down and restart by itself.
It RESTARTS!, so, when you dont feel like talking to your girlfriend any more, no more will you have to make up laundry emergencies, because your phone will just restart, saving you the indignity.
This phone works better as a chew toy for my dog than a phone.
Don’t bother, chip in 10-20 more bucks for a better paperweight.
VM makes crap phones.
Except the Shuttle, buy that one.
This phone gets 1/2 a star, and it only gets that because it only cost me 20 bucks.
