Get out of a cell phone contract, morally

Want out of a cell phone contract but don’t want to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF)?

Most all cellular providers allow you to get out of your contract by transfering your contract to another person who meets their credit check. It’s pretty easy to find someone who would like a contract with only a year or 6 months left, especially when you throw in your old phone.

I’m not aware of any providers who will not allow you to do this, and there are even a couple services who facilitate this, such as CellTradeUSA.com. It can take awhile to find someone using these services, so I would recommend your local craigslist. If you don’t have a popular phone to offer with the contract, you can always offer a cash incentive like people do when swapping leases.

This is a lot easier than roaming your phone over a few weekends, or tethering your phone. Both of which can work, but if you want to escape morally, just give someone your contract.
