Prepaid: Getting charged to ring

I thought I should share this with some of my readers.

Keep in mind when making calls using a prepaid phone you will be charged whether the call goes through or not. It’s pretty standard now to charge if the connection is for more than 30 seconds or a minute. The network charge is usually 1 minute of airtime, so if your paying 10 cents a minute, every time you call and don’t get through it’s going to cost you 10 cents for another network charge.

So, if your trying to get a hold of a friend, calling 20 times is going to get pretty expensive. Try to avoid doing this and wasting your minutes. A lot of contract companies do this also, and will even charge you for 2 minutes if your call is 61 seconds (front the time you dial to the time you hang up, not actual connect time depending on network).

I know this might be obvious to some of you, but when I worked at a phone company I was yelled at by customers daily because of this!

Keep this in mind if your trying to milk those minutes…
