How to dry out a phone :-)

Postby fordp on July 22nd, 2008, 7:55 pm

My room mate dropped her phone in the toilet the other day and we were able to get it working again:

Get the phone out of the water as quick as possible

Remove the battery as fast as you can possibly get it out

Take apart every piece of the phone, than use a hair dryer to remove as much moisture as you can

Let the phone sit for as long as you can spare to be with out it in a warm place

Put the battery back in, cross your fingers, and turn it on. :D

I have found some phones do better with water than others. Nokia's seem to really dodge water damage :-)

I hear taking the battery out and letting the battery and phone dry seperately in a bowl of rice, it works great...if you have rice at home. I usually don't, but hey, try it out lol.
