It may surprise a lot of people that you can infact pickup prepaid cell phones for free. Don't laugh. When I first started working for a prepaid company it didn't occur to me that providers who weren't locking customers in could afford to hand out free phones.

You need to be a bit flexible on services if you want to get a phone right away for free! Virgin Mobile is the predominant free phone giver, but if you frequently check Tracfone, Boost Mobile, and even T-Mobile or AT&T, at any given time you should be able to locate a free phone.

Now, there's not always going to be a free phone deal out there (usually you have to buy a top up card), but there is another way to catch a freebie.

If your familiar with Craigslist, I run across countless phones people are throwing away on there. SO, if your strapped for cash or just want a throw away, either order it online or craigslist it!
